Five baby cheetahs were born at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute (SCBI) in Front Royal, Va. On Tuesday morning.

SCBI keepers cannot perform welfare checks on the cubs until Rosalie leaves them for “an extended period”, but they are monitored via the live feed and “appear to be loud, active, vocal. and eat well “.
SCBI is one of only ten cheetah breeding facilities in the United States. Cheetahs are considered a species vulnerable to extinction by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and it is estimated that there are around 7,000 cheetahs that live in the wild.
