Candidates are invited for appointment as Tenure Track Associate Professor / Assistant Professor in Synthetic Biology (multiple positions) in the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences (Ref .: 509287), to be started as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal and with sustainability before the expiration of a second three-year fixed-term contract, subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants must have: (i) a doctorate. diploma or equivalent in a related discipline; (ii) evidence of international recognition and a solid scholarly record with a demonstrated ability to work across disciplines for new research initiatives; (iii) a strong commitment to engage students in inquiry-based learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and (iv) a strong track record of high quality research, as evidenced by publications and external grants. Applicants with a solid background in leading and coordinating large-scale collaborative synthetic biology projects would be advantageous. Competitive, ambitious and creative applicants with a minimum of 2-3 years of postgraduate training in key areas of synthetic biology are also welcome.
Appointees should establish research in the field of synthetic biology with an emphasis on the application of synthetic biology to basic scientific research or the development of innovative technologies in thematic applications in biomedicine, as well as establish a innovative and well-funded research group that is open to interdisciplinary collaboration. They are also expected to participate in the teaching of biomedical science subjects relevant to human health and disease ranging from basic biochemical, cellular and molecular biology to whole body organization and development. homeostasis, in a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, including medical, biomedical, pharmacy, nursing, and / or Chinese medicine. During career development, appointees are expected to make substantial contributions to the School’s strategic developments in academic and research collaborations at the local, regional and international levels. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, payroll tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. Appointments will result in termination pay and a contribution from the University to a pension plan, totaling up to 15% of base salary. Housing allowances will also be provided where applicable.
