DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED BIOLOGY AND CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY
The Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology is a multidisciplinary department at PolyU with diversified specialties in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition, and food science. The Department’s research focuses on the interdisciplinary fields of chemistry, biology, nutrition, and food science. There are approximately 56 faculty members in the department. With food science and human health being one of its main research focuses, PolyU recently created a brand new “Research Institute for the Food of the Future” (RiFood) to facilitate impactful interdisciplinary research to benefit the world. ‘humanity. RiFood has three main lines of research, namely (i) food sustainability; (ii) development of smart technologies and functional foods; and (iii) Human Nutrition and Health. Currently, our interdisciplinary research team comprises over 45 faculty members from 13 departments across 6 PolyU faculties/schools with a wide range of expertise. Research assistant professor in nutrition and human health (Ref. 22011827)
The appointee will (a) conduct interdisciplinary research on human nutrition and health under RiFood as a primary task, and actively seek external research grants as a principal investigator or co-investigator; (b) provide quality education at undergraduate or postgraduate level; (c) engage in advertising activities that increase the visibility of RiFood and PolyU; and (d) provide expert advice and services to local and international communities on food-related issues.
Applicants must (a) hold a doctorate degree in food science, nutrition, or related disciplines; (b) have demonstrated the promise of a high level of creative ability in research and teaching; (c) be able to demonstrate effective teaching skills in the classroom; and (d) be highly proficient in written and spoken English.
Remuneration and conditions of service
A highly competitive package including a health insurance plan and a gratuity payable at the end of the term which is normally three years initially, with the possibility of extension for another three years. Candidates should indicate their current and expected salary in the application.
