Hyderabad: The most anticipated JEE Advanced results came out today and here is some big news for those who have passed the exam and are looking for different streams.
IIT Hyderabad has announced the first of its industry-focused BTech programs in three streams – biotechnology and bioinformatics, computer engineering and industrial chemistry – starting this academic year from October 2021.
This new BTech program offers students the opportunity to take courses in all branches of science, namely mathematics, physics and chemistry during the first two semesters. In addition to the special program in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Computer Engineering and Industrial Chemistry, students will have the opportunity to deepen their subject by taking elective courses from any other department and may also obtain a minor in the fields of interest to them. , outside the department, such as entrepreneurship, IT, etc., by completing 12 additional credits in this field.
In the sixth semester, students can opt for one semester projects which will provide the opportunity to work and gain experience in the areas of biotechnology / pharmacy / manufacturing / IT / data analysis / chemical informatics and will facilitate the gradual transition to full-time jobs.
Professor BS Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, said: âIIT Hyderabad believes in career-oriented programs at both UG and PG level. These industry-oriented BTechs are such a step in that direction and have been designed to meet the future and current needs of the industry. Students who wish to continue their education or research after their BTech will have many options to choose from from national and international universities.
Adding the merits of BTech in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Prof. Anindya Roy, said, âThe program is designed to train students in sought-after bioinformatics skills including AI and soft computing, web technologies, structural biology, biological data exploration, image processing. , modeling and simulation, systems biology and biostatistics to ensure the complete preparation of students for industry.
Citing the benefits of BTech in Computer Engineering, Prof. Raja Banerjee, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, said: âComputer engineering students will receive interdisciplinary training where they gain expertise in cutting-edge digital methods and algorithms, modeling and simulations of engineering systems and processes, high performance computing, process control and optimization, data analysis and machine learning.
âWe have designed a unique 4-year BTech program with particular emphasis on training the best graduate students with adequate knowledge of applied chemistry and technology to work in various industries such as pharmaceutical and pharmaceutical design, industrial polymers, petrochemical industries, environment and energy, etc. . Added Prof. Satyanrayana G, Head of Chemistry Department, IIT Hyderabad.
