Dubai: In an effort to promote objective scientific research and evidence-based medicines, the Al Jalila Foundation has pledged 8 million dirhams and has partnered with Mohammad bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences ( MBRU) to advance local medical research on diseases affecting humanity. The funds will help advance biomedical research and contribute to the UAE’s thriving research ecosystem.
The partnership will foster collaboration within the research community, create opportunities for students and faculty to further their education and explore ways to support each other’s research goals.
Strengthening research traditions
Dr Raja Al Gurg, Board Member of the Al Jalila Foundation and Chairman of the Board, said: “The investment of the Al Jalila Foundation in medical research reaffirms our commitment to integrate research and development. innovation in the fabric of the nation’s health safeguarding strategy. We are proud to partner with MBRU, a leading academic and research institution in the United Arab Emirates, to strengthen and complement the research conducted by the foundation. “
The two entities have worked in close collaboration since their creation. To date, the foundation has awarded scholarships to 18 postgraduate and 17 undergraduate students pursuing medical studies at MBRU, investing Dh13 million to advance the medical expertise of the UAE. The foundation also awarded six research grants in the areas of cardiovascular disease, cancer and mental health.

Al Jalila’s long tradition of supporting medical research
Since its inception in 2013, the Al Jalila Foundation has offered opportunities to increase innovative and impactful medical research, investing Dh28 million to award 100 research grants and nine international research grants to leading global institutions in the world.
